China, Guangxu period, Pair of Famille Rose porcelain and enamel bowls, with central medallion decoration of the shou character, surrounded by five bats. The border is decorated with lotus petals and foliage. Greek and ruyi garlands complete the ornamentation around the rim of the bowls. Crack on one of the bowls, chips and small chips on the rim of the other. Bears a Qialong mark D. 15,3 cm

The bowl finely potted with deep walls supported on a straight foot, the exterior painted in iron-red and gilt with crashing waves and rocks encircling the foot, a row of swastika symbols tied to ribbons floating above. The recessed foot with a cobalt-blue six-character Guangxu mark and probably of the period. Provenance: German private collection.
