[Compagnonnage] Jean-Baptiste-Etienne Arnaud dit Libourne le décidé, Le régénérateur du tour de France ou recueil de chansons inédites). Nantes, Victor Mangin, sd [1848]. In-8, 79p. Extremely rare booklet that seems to be listed only in the BnF and perhaps in Nantes (reported in 1859). Libourne was certainly a socialist sympathizer, but his main contribution here is a collection of chansons de compagnonnage - he was a journeyman baker. The publisher, Mangin, was later director of Le Phare de la Loire, a famous provincial republican newspaper. In 1858, Libourne was living in Nantes, and on April 16, the police seized 200 copies of this booklet "which contains a large number of seditious songs and annotations subversive of order, and whose cover depicts the emblems of the Republic" (Marcel Launay, LE diocèse de Nantes sous le Second Empire, p.657, note 82). Half basane, very damaged, poorly sewn copy, leaves partly detached, quires partly detached. A very modest but extremely rare copy.
