Damascus tiles with composite flowers Siliceous paste with polychrome painted decoration under transparent colorless glaze Levant, Damascus, 17th century Size: 23 x 23 cm As is (broken, reglued) Decorated with composite flowers forming crosses, painted in cobalt, turquoise, green and touches of eggplant on a white ground. The decoration is executed in the characteristic palette of Damascus production in eggplant, green, cobalt and turquoise. A tile panel from the same group is in the Victoria & Albert Museum (acc. no. 114-1881).
