Berlin 1936 Summer Olympics 'Closing Ceremony' Program

Official German-language daily program for the Berlin 1936 Summer Olympics, 48 pages, 6 x 8.75, issued for August 16th, the date of the closing ceremonies. The program, which features an image of a soldier riding a horse on the front cover, includes the day’s schedule, which lists Equestrian events and a riding exhibition by winners of the major dressage test, award ceremonies for boxing, fencing, swimming, water polo, dressage, jumping, riding, and for special achievements (alpinism and gliding), and the official closing ceremony. Of particular interest is the program’s section for ‘Olympic Champions,’ which lists legendary American athlete Jesse Owens, who won four gold medals in the sprint and long jump events and became the most successful athlete to compete in Berlin. Many of the inner pages bear pencil notations. In fine condition, with light wear and creases to the covers.
