Hermann Prediger, "Holsteiner Stute mit Fohlen" North German summer landscape with horses on the pasture in front of a farmhouse, impasto animal painting with broad brushstrokes, oil on plywood panel, c. 1920, indistinctly signed "H. Prediger", minor craquelure and fine wood shrinkage cracks, somewhat in need of cleaning, beautifully framed in modern gold moulding, dimensions approx. 60 x 80 cm. Artist information: German landscape and genre painter (1886 Hamburg - 1970 Hamburg), studied at the École des Beaux Arts and the Académie Suisse in Paris on a scholarship from Professor Alfred Lichtwark 1907-12, travelled extensively, maintained his own studio in Hamburg from 1924, source: Heydorn, Der neue Rump, artist's label and Internet.
