Trusting that God will bring you and Mr. Buchanan peace and hope for trial and suffering.” The second, Oct. 24 [no year], Oak Lea, to a Madame Benecke arranging a time for dinner, in full: “Mr. Goldschmidt comes from Town quite worn out on Fridays, and has his dinner at 7 o’clock as he eats nothing the whole morning. So we shall come as I proposed in my last note—about ½ past 8 to you on Friday as we could not possibly come earlier.” In overall fine condition, with a repaired separation at the hinge of the 1864 letter, and the other letter affixed to a cardstock sheet.
