Two ALSs by George B. McClellan: an ALS signed "McC," one page both sides, 7.5 x 9.75, Ohio & Mississippi Railroad Company letterhead, January 10, 1860, in part: "I have worked myself in a philosophic frame of mind, & suppose whatever the north does is right. I have done all the talking I can in favor of giving the south their rights—& everybody agrees with me. If it comes to fighting I shall have the consolation that my thoughts & words have been right towards the south...& with all my heart & soul do what I can for the nation in which I was born"; and an ALS signed "Geo. B. McClellan," one page, 5 x 8, April 16, 1885, briefly replying to a letter from Gen. William Farrar 'Baldy' Smith. In overall fine condition. Accompanied by the original sales folder from early 20th century antiquarian bookseller Ernest Dressel North.
