Hugh Judson Kilpatrick Signed Photograph - From a photographic negative in Brady's National Portrait Gallery American military officer (1836-1881), who, as a general in the Civil War, earned the sobriquet ‘Kill-Cavalry’ for his gung-ho disregard for the lives of the soldiers under his command. Following the Civil War he served as the American Minister to Chile in the Johnson and Grant administrations; after a decade long hiatus, he was reappointed to that post by Garfield but died shortly after arriving at the Chilean capital. Uncommon 2.5 x 4 carte-de-visite photo of Hugh Judson Kilpatrick in uniform, boldly signed on the mount in ink, "J. Kilpatrick." Published by E. & H. T. Anthony of New York, from a photographic negative in Brady's National Portrait Gallery. In fine condition.
