Don Carlos Buell Autograph Letter Signed American military officer (1818-1898) who served in the Seminole, Mexican-American, and Civil Wars. His actions in the last were the source of much controversy, and he was ultimately relieved of command for his failure to pursue Bragg's withdrawal following the Battle of Perryville in 1862. ALS signed “D. C. Buell,” one page both sides, 6 x 9.5, Galt House letterhead, March 28, 1886. Handwritten letter to General William Farrar 'Baldy' Smith, in part: "I will look over the question you suggest, and answer further about it tomorrow if possible. I am today trying to answer as many as possible of the letters that I find have been accumulating." In fine condition, with a small puncture to the lower portion of the page. Accompanied by the original sales folder from early 20th century antiquarian bookseller Ernest Dressel North.
