William Shirley Document Signed Colonial governor of Massachusetts who played a prominent role in Britain's struggle with France for control of North America (1694-1771). Manuscript DS, signed “W. Shirley,” one page, 7.75 x 6, January 3, 1768. Sight draft signed by William Shirley, in part: "At Fifty Days after sight pay this my second per Exchange (my First and Third of the Same Tenor and date not being paid) unto Mr. William Woodside or Order, Twenty five pounds Sterling for Value Received, as per Advice herewith Receiv'd." Handsomely mounted, cloth-matted, and framed with a caption to an overall size of 15.5 x 21. In very good to fine condition, with repaired paper loss to the top and bottom edges, affecting several words of text.

Samuel Adams Document Signed as Governor of Massachusetts Sought-after partly-printed DS, signed “Samuel Adams,” one page, 14.25 x 9.25, June 17, 1795. As governor of Massachusetts, Samuel Adams appoints Gersham Ricker as “Ensign of a Company in the fourth Regiment of the First Brigade, Sixth Division of Militia of this Commonwealth." Crisply signed in the upper left, below the embossed seal of Massachusetts, by Governor Samuel Adams, and countersigned at the conclusion by Secretary John Avery. Matted and framed to an overall size of 18.25 x 13.5. In very good to fine condition, with scattered stains, and some minor paper loss at fold intersections. An ideal, boldly signed military document from the Revolutionary leader.

Stephen Hopkins Document Signed Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Rhode Island (1707-1785) who served as the colony's governor in the 1750s and 1760s. Manuscript DS, signed “Step. Hopkins C. Just.,” one page, 6.75 x 2.75, March 1771. Pay order issued as Chief Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court, in part: "Pay Arthur Tenner Jun'r Twenty Shillings Lawful Money for his attendance Ten Days as Clerk at Providence Superior Court March Term AD 1771—and charge to the Colony's account." Professionally inlaid into a slightly larger sheet and in fine condition, with ink erosion to some of the text, but not the signature.
