Marie Curie Document Signed - Certificate of Assay for the Emission of Radiation

Polish-born French physicist (1867-1934), she and her husband Pierre discovered two new elements, polonium and radium, in 1898. In 1911 she won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry. She died of leukemia brought about by her work with radioactive material. Partly-printed DS in French, signed “M. Curie,” one page, 8.5 x 11.5, July 20, 1931. Scarce "Institut du Radium, Laboratoire Curie" certificate documenting an assay regarding the emission of radiation, approved at the conclusion in ink by Curie as director of the laboratory. Double-matted and framed to an overall size of 18 x 16. In fine condition.
