Rare TLS, one page, 8.25 x 11.75, personal letterhead, December 11, 1941. Letter offering condolences to a colleague who lost his son in World War II, in part (translated): "I have just learned with deepest shock that one of your sons sacrificed his young life for the Fuhrer and Fatherland. A sacrifice that hits you and your esteemed wife the hardest. If you find at least some distraction from your pain in your restless and so successful work, your poor wife's raging heart will only be able to find a little consolation in the magnitude of today's events, which the iron compulsion imposes on us: Your son fell for the future of our people." In fine condition, with some light edge toning.
