George Bush Typed Letter Signed

TLS as president, one page, 6.75 x 8.75, White House letterhead, March 16, 1990. Letter to Mrs. Helen Harris, president of the Retinitis Pigmentosa Society for Degenerative Eye Diseases, in part: "Barbara and I enjoyed meeting you and Michelle Burke when you visited the White House. Thank you very much for the recording, 'Forgotten Eyes,' and for your painting, 'Love Is Sharing.' These are wonderful remembrances of the outstanding work that you and so many others are doing to help the visually impaired. We applaud your dedicated efforts." In fine condition, with several old tape stains. Accompanied by an official color satin-finish 8 x 10 White House photograph of President Bush meeting with a 'Retinitis Pigmentosa Ambassador.' Harris, a Hollywood activist for the vision impaired, enlisted Bush to narrate the TheatreVision version of It's a Wonderful Life for the blind: he begins the narration by saying, 'Hello, I’m George Bush. I'm proud and happy to be the first president to describe a film for the visually challenged.'
