Martin Gensler, Außentreppe im Palazzo Bargello View of a stone staircase leading to the first floor of the important palazzo in Florence, which is now a museum, detailed architectural depiction with skilful treatment of light, mixed media (watercolour and ink) on paper, monogrammed and dated lower left "M. G. 1860", collector's stamp "Strähinz Leipzig" (not in Lugt) on the reverse, traces of old mounting on the reverse, small brown stain caused by a liquid on the front, stapled to cardboard backing, sheet dimensions approx. 38 x 29.2 cm. Artist information: actually Johann Martin Gensler, German painter, graphic artist and illustrator (1811 Hamburg to 1881 Hamburg), co-founder of the Club of Hamburg Young Artists in 1832, went to Munich in 1835, studied at the Düsseldorf Academy of Art from 1836, several study trips, on which he primarily focussed on architectural depictions, source: Thieme-Becker and Wikipedia.
