FRANZ GRÜBER (Vienna, 1878-1945). "Bust of a lady from 1848". Art Nouveau, ca.1890. Bronze. Signed on the back. Measurements: 9 x 9 x 5 cm. Female bust in bronze made by the Austrian sculptor Franz Grüber, an artist attached to Art Nouveau but in whose work he often portrayed women of the Biedermeier period. It represents a lady wearing a hat decorated with feathers. On her long neck she wears a pearl necklace. Her features are small and delicate. The blouse is decorated with a poly-lobed trim.
