Description

Will Coles (1972) "Oil" Fiberglass reinforced resin and iron powder. Signed "W" on the back. Measures: 9,5 x 31 x 28,5 cm. Will Coles, BA (Hons), British-Australian sculptor. He studied sculpture at art schools in Ravensbourne, Wimbledon and Glasgow, but learned more from his grandfather, Norman Sillman, ARCA, FRBS, a renowned British sculptor. Since 2006 he has been known in part for his concrete street sculptural art. Since then he has installed between 5,000 and 7,000 commissioned public sculptures in Spain, Australia, Belgium, France, UK, USA, Germany, Italy and New Zealand. By the time he moved to Spain he was already Australia's leading 3D street artist, as well as an established contemporary artist. He claims to be "the most stolen artist in the world" due to the number of his "street" works that were removed by both the public and the authorities. He was reportedly investigated for alleged involvement in actions in line with his vindictive nature, always present in his work, appearing in a British Channel 4 documentary.
