The present work exemplifies Fidler's style, defined by a thick impasto applied in loose, impressionistic brushstrokes. The subject-matter, showing a contemplative figure tending flowers in what appears to be a country garden, is also typical of Fidler, who had a clear preference for depicting quiet scenes in rural settings.
