Georg Osterwald, Mediterranean Landscape View over scattered olive trees to a town situated on a hill and the silhouette of a mountain range in the background, landscape drawing executed in numerous shades of grey, pencil on light card, around 1860-70, signed "G. Artist information: actually Georg Rudolf Daniel Osterwald, German painter, graphic artist, illustrator. Painter, graphic artist, illustrator and teacher (1803 Rinteln to 1884 Cologne), worked as a technical draughtsman, studied painting at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn, from 1825 studied at the academy in Munich under Friedrich von Gärtner, also worked there as a drawing teacher at the Baugewerkschule, 1830-32 based in Paris, 1835-36 editor of the Hannoversche Kunstblätter, was also based in Dresden and Cologne, 1864 appointed professor, source: Thieme-Becker, Matrikeln der Münchner Akademie and Wikipedia.

Duke of Wellington Signed Free Frank Hand-addressed envelope, 4.75 x 3, filled out in Wellington's hand and dated to "September twenty third 1834,” addressed to “Colonel, Sir John Woodford,” and franked in the lower left corner, "Free, Wellington." The reverse flap retains its original red wax seal. In fine condition. Major-General Sir John George Woodford, KCB (1785-1879) was a British Army officer who has been called ‘possibly the first battlefield archaeologist.’ He served in the Napoleonic Wars, and in 1818, did archaeological work in the area surrounding the Battle of Agincourt. He served as aide-de-camp to Wellington during the Battle of Waterloo, and it’s been stated that Woodford was the last living British officer to have fought at the historic battle.

The "Three Musicians" theme began with a 1925 drawing inspired by an orchestra in the rue de Lappe, and continued until 1944 with "Les Trois Musiciens", the last work in the Wright Ludington collection in Santa Barbara, now at MOMA in New York. A certificate from Madame Irus Hansma will be given to the buyer. A certificate from the Comité Fernand Léger will be given to the buyer.
