Circle of Octave Denis Victor Guillonnet, French 1872-1967- Two ladies seated in a garden, on a summer's day; oil on canvas, 71.6 x 84.7 cm. Provenance: Private Collection, UK. Note: The present work very much resembles that of Guillonnet, who was known for his distinctive scenes depicting lush garden settings, often contrasting the bright sun with the shade of the trees under which figures rest. This approach is evident, for example, in a painting by Guillonnet which sold at Bonhams, London, on 3 March 2021 (lot 156).
