Provenance: Private Collection, UK. Note: The present work is typical of Ten Kate's genre scenes, depicting figures in historical dress in a tavern interior, clearly referencing the work of the artist's Dutch predecessors of the 17th century, such as David Teniers (1610-1690) and Adriaen Brouwer (1605-1638).
