Provenance: Private Collection, UK. Note: The present work is a copy after a detail from Rembrandt's group portrait of the Syndics of the Draper's Guild of 1662, which is considered the artist's last great group portrait, and is now held in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam [SK-C-6]. This detail depicts the figure of Volckert Jansz. (1605/10-1681), a successful cloth merchant and art collector, who also may have served as a deacon of the Old Frisian Mennonite Church in Amsterdam.
