Claes Jansz Visscher and Jan van Londerseel, Dutch 1587-1652- and Dutch 1578-c.1625- The death of Absalom, after Maarten de Vos and Johannes Wierix, from the Royal-Size Bible; engraving on laid paper, signed 'CJ Visscher Excudit' (within the plate, lower centre), 44.1 x 53.5 cm.: together with seven further engravings from the same publication, depicting 'Bathsheba receiving David's letter'; the 'Embarkation of Noah's Ark'; 'Jeroboam and the Prophet Ahijah'; 'Woody landscape with the disobedient prophet devoured by a lion'; 'The Discovery of Moses'; 'Abigail before David'; and 'The Prophet Elijah carried to Heaven'; variously signed within the plates, each gilt-edged and with hand-drawn red margins, each 44.1 x 53.5 cm., eight (8).
