VASE WITH LID Calcified alabaster. Biconical body with flat lip. The lid (not relevant) has a circular opening with a rounded lip. Similar types of vase, sometimes with a more angular profiling, are attested at the very beginning of the Egyptian dynastic period. H. 10 cm; Diam. 16 cm. Egypt, Thinite period, early 3rd millennium B.C. Provenance: Michel Goughassian Collection (1943-2020), assembled mainly on the Paris art market in auction rooms and galleries. A Thinite calcificated alabaster cosmetic vase with lid. A globular vase made up of two parts, the lower one is a simple bowlwith a flat circular bottom, while the upper one, with a circular opening with rounded lip, forms the lid of the vessel.
