OPERA - PUCCINI Giacomo (1858 - 1924) - Original photograph Photograph depicting Maestro Giacomo Puccini in a boat on his beloved Lake Massaciuccoli, with handwritten notation by the Maestro. Wearing a visor hat, the Maestro is seated, while a young man holds an oar. At the bottom, on the card, the inscription, in the Maestro's own handwriting, 'On motor lance'. In the lower part of the picture is a further handwritten notation, apparently also by Puccini's hand, faded and unintelligible. The picture is datable to around the end of the 19th century: an apparently forty-year-old Puccini is relaxing in the place most congenial to him, in the waters of Lake Massaciuccoli, probably during a break in a hunting trip. Applied on rigid cardboard. (13.3 x 18.3 cm). - This item is under temporary import. If the item is delivered within the United Kingdom, it will be subject to a 5% Value Added Tax (VAT) on the hammer price.

Mewe, Birken am See summery, sunny view of a Brandenburg lake with birch trees on the shore, slightly impasto, impressionistic landscape painting, oil on card, c. 1940, signed "MEWE" lower left, craquelure, the painting ground somewhat bulging, in need of cleaning, originally framed (def.), rebated dimensions c. 40 x 50 cm.

Ducks in a Lake (after Koester) on a lake near the shore, surrounded by reeds, a group of ducks, diving for food with their beaks in the water, an unknown monogrammist painted the original motif of the painter Alexander Koester, famous for his duck paintings, during the master's lifetime, which he succeeds well in the impressionistic play of light and the colouring, oil on canvas, lower right ligated monogrammed "C." or "L." and "AS", dated "[19].21", in a magnificent Art Nouveau frame, folded dimensions approx. 22.5 x 33.5 cm.
