U. S. Grant Document Signed as President, Proclaiming an Extradition Convention with Salvador Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 7.75 x 9.75, March 13, 1874. President Grant directs the Secretary of State to affix the Seal of the United States to “my Proclamation of the Convention between the United States and Salvador signed on the 12th of May 1873.” Signed at the conclusion by U. S. Grant. In fine condition. On May 20, 1870, the United States and the Republic of Salvador signed an extradition convention that would ensure each other’s cooperation regarding the safe and expedient surrender of criminals. This offered document pertains to a time extension for the exchange of ratification between the two countries.

Nathan Bedford Forrest Document Signed Confederate general (1821-1877) who earned a reputation as the greatest cavalry officer of the Civil War. DS, signed “N. B. Forrest,” one page, 8.25 x 3.5, September 1, 1870. Reverse of a clipped mortgage bond from the Selma, Marion and Memphis Railroad Company, which states that the company "agrees and binds itself to pay the principal and interest of the within Bond in Gold Coin of the United States." Signed at the conclusion in crisp black ink by Nathan Bedford Forrest as the company's president. In fine condition.

[Robert E. Lee] Confederate General Orders No. 3, Affirming the Appointment of a General in Chief of the Armies Confederate States Scarce Civil War-dated printed order for "General Orders, No. 3," issued by the Adjutant and Inspector General’s Office at Richmond, Virginia, one page, 5 x 6.75, February 6, 1865. The order, “published for the information of the army,” contains an Act of Congress designed “to provide for the appointment of a General in Chief of the Armies Confederate States.” The second section reads, in part: “General ROBERT E. LEE having been duly appointed General in Chief of the Armies of the Confederate States, will assume the duties thereof, and will be obeyed and respected accordingly.” The upper portion bears a “Rebel Archives” stamp from the “Record Division, War Department.” In fine condition, with a stain to the right edge.

James A. Seddon War-Dated Autograph Letter Signed, Approving a "passport through the lines to the United States" Former Democratic congressman (1815-1880) who served as Confederate Secretary of War. Civil War-dated LS, one page, 9 x 7.75, Confederate States of America (War Department) letterhead, April 9, 1864. Handwritten letter to General Winder, in full: “Give Mr. Ludwig Schulz a passport through the lines to the United States, taking his parole of honor not to reveal anything prejudicial to the Confederate cause.” In fine condition, with light show-through along the bottom edge from old mounting remnants on the back.
