Pigage - Ein Malerleben in Deutschland 1888-1954', catalog Hubert Vogler Collection - Claus Reisinger, Worms 2014, p. 174, SVR-167, Comment: Pigage was a German painter. After training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Breslau under Arnold Busch, among others, he worked as a decorative painter and draughtsman from 1910. After a war injury, he settled in Mannheim around 1917, where he successfully painted scenes of the Schwetzingen palace gardens and the Mannheim parks. In 1934 he moved to Berlin, where he met Adolf Hitler through his parents-in-law. Ultimately, he received numerous state and private commissions to paint various rooms in the Reich's institutions. This was probably also the case with the commission for this mural to decorate the premises of the Berlin-Charlottenburg street cleaning depot.
