Paris, various publishers, An XII [1804]-1824. 22 volumes. 19 by 25 cm. Full contemporary basane, spine 5-ribbed, caissons very nicely decorated with elegant ironwork, black title-pieces. 11 boards have been subjected to the greediness of a fussy rat, and therefore show some loss of leather. Two small defects to a nerve. 3 slightly damaged headpieces, one of which has been unskilfully restored. Despite these defects, the overall quality is very good. A complete first edition, which is unusual. Our copy contains everything that appeared under this title and in this form in this precious periodical. In particular, a complete copy of the volume covering the earlier period (1791 - 1803), published retrospectively in 1809, and of the general table, written by G.T. Denevers, published in 1812 (438 pp.). Cat. collectif des périodiques B.N. III-p. 128; FRBNF 34419617. This periodical was taken over from 1825 by Dalloz and Tournemine under a different title and broader content: "Jurisprudence générale du royaume en matière civile, commerciale et criminelle: ou Journal des audiences de la Cour de cassation et des Cours royales", and appeared without interruption until 1902.

Folded leaves on all volumes. 1 folding plate and 11 portraits. 2nd complete series of this periodical, which appeared in 5 successive series from 1825 to 1875 (44 volumes). The 1st series covers the years 1825 to 1834 (10 vols.), the last, the years 1873 to 1875 (6 vols.). Cat. coll. of periodicals III-86. The main editors are : MM. Guy de Maupassant, Notre coeur. Paris, Paul Ollendorff, 1890. In-12, [4]-300p. First edition on current paper of Maupassant's last novel. It was published in June 1890, following publication in the Revue des Deux-Mondes on May 15, June 1 and June 15. Binding signed Jadis (on the slipcase), full bottle-green morocco with foliage decoration, ribbed spine, gilt head, covers and spine preserved, untrimmed, a few freckles, slipcase lined. This is not a mosaic binding, but a decorated binding. The motifs are painted, as if lacquered, with ironwork to delimit each part. Scattered foxing, 3 leaves with gaps filled in the margins. An astonishingly fine copy of one of Maupassant's great novels (Talvart & Place, XIII, 260).
