[Rouen, manuscript, music] Cérémonial des religieuses hospitalières de la miséricorde de Jésus de l'ordre de Saint Augustin. Rouen, Jacques Le Boullenger, 1685. In-8, 148-[4]-136p. Very rare first edition (despite the presence of three copies in our sale) containing, in particular, all the music in the second part. This part was not printed, apart from the staves (probably for cost reasons). The music was copied in ink onto some (but not all) of the staves. What's also interesting is that the handwritten music varies from copy to copy, in particular 318, which differs markedly from 319 and 320. A handwritten table has been added at the end (probably 19th century). Reused 18th-century full morocco, giving the appearance of an amateur binding, copy rebacked from an earlier date, leaves reembossed at the edges, some reinforcement in the inner margins. Rare testimony of these nuns. This copy comes from the Augustinian nuns of Château-Gontier (former province of Anjou, present-day Mayenne).
