A SATSUMA CERAMIC FIGURE OF A SAMURAI, c. 1900s A SATSUMA CERAMIC FIGURE OF A SAMURAI, c. 1900s Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912) Modeled as a Samurai seated on a rectangular chest, painted in grisaille, iron-red, gold, black, and polychrome enamels, the face with a serene expression, a long moustache above the lips, dressed in typical armor with a katana and arrows, holding a fan in his left hand and a small dish in the right hand. The armor finely decorated with ornate floral and geometric patterns. HEIGHT 33 cm WEIGHT 2,341 g Condition: Good condition with minor wear and rubbing to gilt. The finial to the kabuto lost and the right foot reattached and with touchups.
