Spanish school of the 20th century. "Christ crucified". Patinated bronze sculpture. Measurements: 17 x 8 x 4 cm. Despite the soft forms of the sculpture in tender we can intuit that it is the figure of Christ Crucified.

Aparece la Virgen sentada con un sombrero, en su mano derecha agarra el cayado propio de su advocación y ampara a una de las ovejas mientras con la derecha sostiene al Niño Jesús. Este se asienta sobre la rodilla izquierda, la pintura se completa con las ovejas marcadas con el anagrama de María. La devoción de la Virgen como pastora proviene de Sevilla. En el año 1700, Fray Isidoro de Sevilla recibió una visión en uno de sus sueños en la que se le apareció la Virgen María en un paisaje campestre, rodeada de árboles y ovejas, vestida con una túnica púrpura, una mantilla azul y portando en su mano un cayado pastoril, conmovido por la belleza de la imagen mandó pintar a Alonso Miguel de Tovar, pintor de la escuela pictórica sevillana, para que pintara a la imagen que tuvo en su sueño. Un fenómeno interesante es la metamorfosis imagográfica de la Divina Pastora, tanto en la península ibérica como en la América española. En ocasiones se altera parcialmente la visión del capuchino, como es en el caso de nuestra obra, al incluir en el regazo de la Virgen al Niño Jesús. Reentelado. 55 x 46 cm.
