French school of the 19th century. The Miracle of Saint Anthony of Padua and the Donkey. Oil on canvas. Former element of an altarpiece. Height : 167 cm, width : 62 cm. This miracle occurred in Montpellier: when a man refused to believe that the Lord was present in the Eucharist, Saint Anthony obtained God's permission for the man's donkey to kneel before the Host.

Novo-Hispanic school; XVIII century. "Virgin with Child St. John the Evangelist and the Baptist". Oil on copper. Presents faults. Measurements: 17.5 cm; 20 cm (frame). The nun's pectorals belong to the tradition of the European miniatures, taken to America by the Spanish colonizers and adopted in the conventual circles of the New Spain. The pectorals were painted in oil, as in the present case, on round or oval plates, with a frame bordering the main image, in which images of flowers or other ornamental motifs were placed. In this particular case we can appreciate the representation of the Virgin with the Child in her arms and next to her St. John the Evangelist and St. John the Baptist. It is worth mentioning that, during the Spanish colonial domination, a mainly religious painting was developed, aimed at Christianizing the indigenous peoples. The local painters were modeled on Spanish works, which they followed literally in terms of types and iconography. The most frequent models were the harquebusier angels and the triangular virgins, however, in the early years of the 19th century, already in times of independence and political opening of some of the colonies, several artists began to represent a new model of painting with its own identity.
