René-Ferdinand (de) CHAUBRY (1749 - 1834) "Plans, sections, and elevation of an auditorium to be built in Dieppe, projected in 1788 by M de Chaubry, Port Inspector". Suite of 7 watercolor plates, numbered 49 to 55 and titled : - Legend des Plans (?) - First floor plan - Second floor plan - Second floor plan - Section on line AB - Section on line CD - Comédie Française" main facade Approx. 60 x 42 cm each plate All in the same gilded frame Slight wetness but good overall condition René-Ferdinand (de) Chaubry, Ponts-et-Chaussée engineer, sub-engineer at Le Mans, then at Honfleur, Le Havre and Dieppe in 1785 with the rank of inspector. He went on to become Chief Engineer of the Sarthe department, then President of its General Council. In particular, he was responsible for the first major urban transformations of the city of Le Mans. Provenance : Marc Hispard and Brigitte Langevin-Hispard Collection

Numerous illustrated photographs, printed on heavy off-white paper. Format in-12°, 363 pages. A few small creases and tears on the cover, insolation on the spine. Good condition. Provenance: Paula Renée Nothafft (née Kaestlin), first wife of F.F. Nothafft, art lover and collector, researcher at the Hermitage and founder of the Aquilon publishing house. Paula Nothafft was made famous by painter B.M. Kustodiev's portrait of her; in 1923, she left Soviet Russia for Switzerland with her son Andrei, who would later become a major industrialist.
