Rare and important compendium containing the Acts of the Paris Revolutionary Government: decrees, orders, notices, proclamations, military reports, dispatches, appointments, etc., from March 20 to May 21, 1871.

Revue. Revue française. Paris, Revue française office, 1837-1839. 12 volumes in 6 vol. in-8, half green glazed basane, smooth spines decorated with romantic irons (period binding). Spines uniformly sunned, else a good copy. A complete collection of this very rare political journal of the July Monarchy, whose name and purpose echo those of its namesake of the Restoration: indeed, the first and best-known Revue française, published from January 1828 to July 1830, had Guizot as its director and Ampère, Barante, Broglie, Duvergier de Haurane, Rémusat, Sainte-Aulaire and Saint-Marc Girardin as contributors. Little-known outside political and philosophical circles, it provided enlightened contributions on all subjects related to philosophy, history and politics, of remarkable quality and state-of-the-art information, as well as, at the end of each issue, an important critical bibliography of recently published French and foreign works. This attempt at resurrection went even more unnoticed by the general public than the first series, and failed due to financial difficulties. (Hatin, p. 405 (who confuses the two publications).

Revue - [MARCHAIS (André)]. Revue républicaine. Journal of democratic doctrines and interests. Paris, Revue républicaine office, 1834-1835. 5 volumes in 4 volumes in-8, half red long-grain morocco, smooth spine decorated with gilt fillets, speckled tr. (Laurenchet). Some foxing, but a fine copy. Very rare complete collection of this veritable laboratory of republican thought, founded by the former carbonaro, then secretary of the "Aide-toi, le ciel t'aidera" societies, André Marchais, with articles by Louis Blanc, G. Cavaignac, J. Mazzini, E. Arago, etc. (Hatin, p. 392.) Copy of Ferdinand-Philippe, DUC D'ORLÉANS (1810-1842), with wet stamp on title of vol. III. The presence of this left-wing periodical should come as no surprise in the library of Louis-Philippe's eldest son, whose opinions leaned towards liberalism, at least during the first years of the July Monarchy.

Journal des Chasseurs. Revue littéraire. Paris, Journal des Chasseurs, 1836-1864. 37 vol. in-8, 309 plates, 17 color plates, 2 maps, one folded (vol. 25). Red half-chagrin, spine ribbed (contemporary binding). Mottling on some volumes, foxing, small black mark on spine of volume 10. Ex-libris Olivier de Seguin. Head of the collection of the most important periodical devoted to hunting. Founder of the Revue, Léon Bertrand ran it until 1861. The periodicity is monthly, then bi-monthly. The best hunting writers of the day took part: Léon Bertrand, Joseph La Vallée, the Marquis de Foudras, d'Houdetot, Deyeux, Toussenel... The magazine ended in 1870. "Le Journal des Chasseurs remains the most important hunting magazine ever published in France, and has rightly been called Le Livre d'Or de la Vénérie française. Complete collections were already rare in 1885 when Souhart published his Bibliographie; they are much rarer today" (Thiébaud). Illustrated with lithographs, the Revue is a formidable iconographic source. Of particular note are the famous lithographs by Traviès and the 17 colored plates, which are rarely found. Thiébaud notes that copies with colored plates are extremely rare (Thiébaud, 523). A good copy, despite the noted defects.
