Attached is an autograph letter signed by Stéphane Mallarmé, 2 leaves in-12, folded, dated April 30, 1897, addressed to Monsieur Le Président, in which he declines an invitation to the inauguration of the statue of Rémy Belleau, as he is unwell and has had to leave Paris to rest. Trace of glue on one edge. Slight foxing.
