JOSEP PUIGMARTI VALLS (Monistrol de Calders, 1932-2020). "Figuraçio platejada oxidada", 1996. Oil and collage on canvas. Signed in the lower central part. Titled, signed and dated on the back. The frame has a few flaws. Size: 60 x 73 cm; 74 x 88 cm (frame). Josep Puigmartí was a self-taught Spanish painter and sculptor who developed his style outside the conventions and artistic trends of each period. During the 60s, 70s and 80s, he introduced in his surrealist paintings a whole iconography of erotic style that earned him the consideration of a transgressor artist who practiced a provocative style, by the critics of the time. In 2007 the town council of the border town of Bourg-Madame (France) declared him a favourite son, giving him the keys to the town and dedicating a permanent museum called Espace d'art Puigmartí to him. As a result of his many travels around the world, he exhibited in Spain, Andorra, France, Monaco, Sweden, Denmark, Japan, Abu Dhabi, Colombia, the United States and the China Millennium Monument Contemporary Art Museum in Beijing.
