Description

AIIROH (Narbonne, France, 1987). "Street Dollar, 2023. Mixed media lithography on acrylic resin panel. Copy 1/1. Certificate enclosed on the back. Measurements: 75 x 75 cm. Aiiroh defines himself as a street artist, but also a pop artist "in the original sense of "popular", who brings street culture to life", in the words of the artist himself. His work is inspired by that of artists such as Raymond Hains (whose famous 1961 exhibition "France in Shreds" obsessed him as a young street artist), Villeglé, Dufrêne, Rotella and Robert Indiana. In his language, Aiiroh incorporates elements of popular culture, such as world-renowned international brands, which remind us of society's dependence on consumer products. Visually, his works are highly aesthetic because of the contrast between the black background and the multitude of colours that form the emblems. His work is no longer political but optimistic: he offers jovial messages including iconic cartoon characters and portraits of celebrities. He has exhibited in around twenty galleries both in France and internationally (Switzerland, Italy, United Kingdom, Greece, Israel, United States, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan).
