ALONSO Angel (1923 - 1994) - [Mineral composition]. 1968. Mixed media, on paper. Dated "mai 68" lower right. From 1960 onwards and for more than twenty years, Alonso was to remain virtually aloof from the art market. He devoted himself to painting as a spiritual imperative, always in contact with the earth and nature. These were intense years marked by a gradual return to the essential, expressed above all in color and materials. He began a series of large-scale black paintings using powdered charcoal, burnt plant material, straw, foliage and earth, giving the painting a unique consistency and intensity. At the same time, he created other works on wood, cardboard or paper, in which he continued his research and reflection on color. 55.2 x 43.5 cm. Framed piece. Condition A.
