A SMALL PAIR OF SATSUMA CERAMIC ‘SAMURAI AND BOYS’ VASES A SMALL PAIR OF SATSUMA CERAMIC ‘SAMURAI AND BOYS’ VASES Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912) The ceramic vases of ovoid form surmounted by a waisted neck, finely painted in polychrome enamels and gilt, each with two square cartouches, one enclosing Samurai and the other young boys at play, all on a densely decorated ground. HEIGHT 8.7 cm and 8.8 cm WEIGHT 105 g and 120 g Condition: Good condition with minor wear. One vase with a small chip to the upper rim.
