Meissen "Rape of Proserpina" Designed by Johann Joachim Kändler in 1750, underglaze blue pommel mark 1860-1924, 1st choice, incised model number 1448, embossed number 23 and brush number 42.naturalistic design with polychrome overglaze painting and gold staffage, a man with crown striding on an oval rock base with rocaille decoration in relief and tree trunk, carrying a struggling woman on his shoulder, both as half nudes with drapery, dynamic depiction of the mythological abduction of the Roman goddess Proserpina by her later husband Pluto, the god of the underworld, good professionally restored condition, h 25.5 cm.
