Indo Portuguese Corpus Christi with Mary and Saint John 18th century 92 x 49 x 19 cm. This sculptural group shows Christ crucified accompanied by Mary and Saint John on the sides. The technique used includes wood carving and the application of gilding and polychrome for the details. The use of gold on the cross and vestments adds an air of solemnity and reverence. This work is representative of the 17th century baroque school, characterized by its focus on religious devotion and the dramatization of biblical scenes.
