Important set of documents, posters, invitations, visiting cards with handwritten annotations from celebrities of the period, actors, conductors, official members and directors of opera houses, performance programs (with autograph signatures and dedications from actors), letters and correspondence (including Joseph Kessel), autographed photographs (including one of Serge Lifar), press cards, passes, and several hundred press clippings devoted to the prince when he was a singer in Russia, and articles written by the prince when he was a journalist in France after the Russian Revolution, published in the European press of the time. All these documents, dating from 1915 to 1960, are contained in three large black folio albums. Weathered, as is. Biography: born in 1901, Alexis was the son of Prince Nicholas Illarionovich Skrydloff (1844-1918), an admiral in the Imperial Fleet. After brilliant studies at the Petrograd drama school, he took singing, piano and composition lessons, before undertaking numerous concerts in all major Russian cities. After fleeing the Bolshevik revolution and settling in France, he gave his first recital at the Salle Pleyel in Paris on January 22, 1928. From then on, he was a regular participant in major song galas, concerts and musical soirées. The young prince also wrote a memoir entitled "White Russia and Red Russia", published in 1935 by Plon. After a brief film career, he abandoned music to devote himself entirely to journalism, becoming, from the beginning of the Second World War until his death, the specialist on the world of music and one of the main players in the White Russian community in Paris.

La vente est faite expressément au comptant.
Les objets sont vendus en l’état, une exposition préalable permettant aux acquéreurs de se
rendre compte de l’état des objets mis en vente, il ne sera admis aucune réclamation une fois
l’adjudication prononcée.
L’adjudicataire sera le plus offrant et dernier enchérisseur. Il devra acquitter, en sus de l’enchère,
les frais de vente de 30% TTC (frais 25% plus TVA à 20%) y compris pour les ventes
de livres avec une TVA à 5,5%.
Les indications portées au catalogue engagent la responsabilité de la Société de Vente,
compte tenu des rectifications annoncées au moment de la présentation de l’objet et portées
au procès verbal de la vente.
Les dimensions, les poids et les estimations ne sont donnés qu’à titre indicatif. Le réentoilage,
parquetage ou doublage sont considérés comme une mesure conservatoire et non comme
un vice.
En cas de contestation, au moment de l’adjudication, c’est-à-dire s’il y a double enchère, le
lot sera immédiatement remis en vente au prix proposé par les enchérisseurs et tout le public
sera admis à enchérir de nouveau.
Le requérant qui retire avant la vente un objet confié s’engage à supporter les frais engagés

PAIEMENT / DÉFAUT DE PAIEMENT :
Aucun lot ne sera remis aux acquéreurs avant acquittement de l’intégralité des sommes dues.
En cas de paiement par chèque, le transfert de propriété de l’objet n’aura lieu qu’après
encaissement du chèque.
Le paiement par chèque sans provision ou le défaut de paiement n’entraîne pas la responsabilité

A défaut de paiement du montant de l’adjudication et des frais, une mise en demeure sera
adressée à l’acquéreur par lettre recommandée avec avis de réception aux frais de l’acquéreur.
A expiration du délai d’un mois après cette mise en demeure et à défaut de paiement de
la somme due, il sera perçu sur l’acquéreur et pour une prise en charge des frais de recouvrement
des honoraires complémentaires de 10% du prix d’adjudication, avec un minimum de
250 euros. L’application de cette cause ne fait pas obstacle à l’allocation de dommages-intérêts
et aux dépens de la procédure qui serait nécessaire, et ne préjuge pas de l’éventuelle
mise en oeuvre de la procédure de folle enchère.

La Société de Vente agira pour le compte de l’enchérisseur, selon les instructions contenues

et ne dépassant, en aucun cas, le montant maximum indiqué par l’enchérisseur.

Many lots are of an age or nature which precludes their being in mint condition and some

It is the responsibility of prospective bidders to inspect the property before bidding to determine

BATCH TRANSPORT / EXPORT :
As soon as the award is pronounced, the purchases are under the entire responsibility of the
successful bidder, the storage and transport of the object do not engage the responsibility
of the Sales Company. The lots will be stored in the Drouot storage at the buyers expense.
The Coutau Bégarie office will not be responsible for any shipment of the lots.
Custody fees will be charged in proportion to the size of the lot if the lots are not collected
promptly after the sale.
In the event a successful bidder fails to pay any amounts due, within one month, the Auction
House reserves the right to cancel the sale and re-sell the lot according to the « Folle Enchère »
French law (Law of July 10th 2000). The purchaser will be charged for all the expenses
caused by the re-auctioning of the property. If the new auction price does not reach the former
one, the failing purchaser have to pay the difference.
In any case, the purchaser will be liable for any deficiency, any and all costs, handling
charges, late charges, expenses, legal fees, expenses and incidental damages.
PHONE OR ABSENTEE BIDS
The Auction House will execute absentee bids and accept telephone bids as a courtesy to
clients who are unable to attend the auctions.
“Phone or Absentee Bid” forms are available online or from the head office. Therefore, we
take no responsibility for any errors or omissions in connection with this service.
For the Phone bid, when the auctioneer is approaching the particular lot number, a staff
member will phone and you can instruct them to bid on your behalf.
For the Absentee bid, you must nominate an amount indicating the maximum price you are
prepared to pay for the item.
The auctioneer will bid on your behalf until the price has reached your nominated amount.
If bidding doesn’t reach this amount, you win the item for the price at which the bidding
ceased.
Bulky lots acquired on absentee bids will be kept on Drouot’s storage (see the conditions

As soon as the award is pronounced, the purchases are under the entire responsibility of the
successful bidder, the storage and transport of the object do not engage the responsibility
of the Sales Company. The lots will be stored in the Drouot storage at the buyers expense.
The Coutau Bégarie office will not be responsible for any shipment of the lots.
Custody fees will be charged in proportion to the size of the lot if the lots are not collected
promptly after the sale.
In the event a successful bidder fails to pay any amounts due, within one month, the Auction
House reserves the right to cancel the sale and re-sell the lot according to the « Folle Enchère »
French law (Law of July 10th 2000). The purchaser will be charged for all the expenses
caused by the re-auctioning of the property. If the new auction price does not reach the former
one, the failing purchaser have to pay the difference.
In any case, the purchaser will be liable for any deficiency, any and all costs, handling
charges, late charges, expenses, legal fees, expenses and incidental damages.
PHONE OR ABSENTEE BIDS
The Auction House will execute absentee bids and accept telephone bids as a courtesy to
clients who are unable to attend the auctions.
“Phone or Absentee Bid” forms are available online or from the head office. Therefore, we
take no responsibility for any errors or omissions in connection with this service.
For the Phone bid, when the auctioneer is approaching the particular lot number, a staff
member will phone and you can instruct them to bid on your behalf.
For the Absentee bid, you must nominate an amount indicating the maximum price you are
prepared to pay for the item.
The auctioneer will bid on your behalf until the price has reached your nominated amount.
If bidding doesn’t reach this amount, you win the item for the price at which the bidding
ceased.
Bulky lots acquired on absentee bids will be kept on Drouot’s storage (see the conditions
applied).
Small lots will be kept at Coutau-Begarie’s office, beyond a week, 3 € per day will be
applied.
Purchase via the Drouot Live platform:
For any purchase via Drouot Live, additional costs of 1.5% excluding tax will be applied (i.e.
1.8% including tax).
Purchase via the Drouot Online et Interenchères platforms :
For any purchase via these platforms, additionnal costs of 3% excluding tax will be applied
(i.e. 3.6% including tax).
