DUNOYER DE SEGONZAC André (1884-1974) Isadora Duncan (1877-1927). Ink drawing on paper signed lower left by the artist in graphite, dated 1910, preserved under glass in its original natural wood frame. Bears on the back the artist's collection stamp "13 rue Bonaparte - A.D.S. - Paris", the Kunsthalle Basel exhibition label, no. 1427, and the handwritten inscription in blue chalk in the artist's hand identifying the subject: "Isadora". Good condition. Sight: H.: 25.5 cm - W.: 39 cm. Frame: H.: 51.5 cm - W.: 64.5 cm. Biography: André Dunoyer de Segonzac is a French painter. In 1900, he was a free student at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-arts de Paris, then entered the studio of Luc-Olivier Merson, before attending the Académie Julian, a private school founded in 1866 by the French painter Rodolphe Julian, where he was a pupil of Jean-Paul Laurens. From 1907, he had a studio at the Académie de la Palette. He exhibited his first works in 1908 at the Salon d'Automne and the following year at the Salon des Indépendants. In 1910, he befriended Paul Poiret, with whom he met Raoul Dufy and Maurice de Vlaminck. It was at this time that he drew several works representing the principal dancers of the Russian ballets and published the "Isadora Duncan album". In 1914, he held his first solo exhibition at the Galerie Lévêque (later Galerie Barbazanges). Between 1914 and 1918 he was head of a camouflage section. In 1920, he began engraving directly on nature. In 1924 he exhibited at the Galerie Barbazanges. He was appointed Secretary of the French painters-engravers in 1930.
