SUITE OF SIX LOUNGE CHAIRS. REPLICA OF THE PAVLOVSK PALACE CHAIR. 20th century, neo-classical style. In mahogany and mahogany veneer, back decorated with two coiled snakes in gilded wood, standing on ring and saber feet. Minor wear and tear. H.: 96.5 cm - W.: 50 cm - D.: 48 cm. Reference: this set of chairs is inspired by those made for Empress Maia Feodorovna's salon in Pavlovsk Palace by André Voronikhine (1759-1831). This design is one of the architect's favorite motifs, and can be found on the furniture in the Stroganoff Palace in St. Petersburg, as seen in the book "Stroganoff, the palace and collections of a Russian noble familly", published by the Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, 2000, page 180, also in the book "Pavlovsk Art Collection", St. Petersburg, 2010, page 57 and in the book "Meubles Russes, histoire des styles", by I.
