A RUSSIAN EMBROIDERED SILK PANEL LATE 19TH CENTURY worked in coloured silks with a central monogram 'MO' beneath an Imperial crown inside borders of flowering foliage, on a mauve ground, professionally mounted, glazed and framed 63 x 59cm Provenance The current vendor inherited this panel from her Great Aunt, Maheela Bell, who was Governess to Princess Sonia Orbeliany(i) and who, in turn, was Maid of Honour to Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna. Catalogue Note A note from the Victoria & Albert Museum dated the panel to the second half of the 19th century and suggests that it was possibly a cushion cover. They also suggest that the 'MO' monogram could belong to the Orbeliani Family.
