NETSCHER Caspar (1639-1684)

Portrait of Princess Élisabeth-Charlotte d'Orléans, Duchess of Lorraine (1676-1744). Oil on canvas inscribed on the left side: "Élisabeth Charlotte d'Orléans duchesse de Lorraine G. Netcherfec" preserved in an antique carved and gilded wood frame. Restoration, accidents to the frame, but overall good condition. Sight: H.: 80 cm - W.: 64.5 cm. Frame: H.: 104 cm - W.: 86 cm. History: Princess Elisabeth-Charlotte was the grandmother of Queen Marie-Antoinette and the ancestor of all the present-day Habsburgs and Orléans. She was the daughter of Philippe I Duc d'Orléans (1640-1701) and Princess Palatine (1652-1722). In 1698, she married Leopold I, Duke of Lorraine (1679-1729), and his son François became Emperor of the Holy German Empire and married Maria Theresa of Austria (1717-1780). Reference: There is a version of this portrait in the Musée Nationale des Châteaux de Versailles et de Trianon (MV7387), attributed to the workshop of Pierre Mignard (1612-1695).
