Description

Figura de marfil tallado "Anciano", ppo. s.XX Figure of carved ivory on wooden base; made in the first third of the twentieth century. It shows an old man with a gentle and cheerful look, dressed in long tunics and wearing a traditional hat. He is seated on a rock, with his left hand holding a bouquet of flowers, while with his right hand he caresses his long beard. Measurements: 19.3 x 10 x 11 cm Weight: 634 g It is very important that our Users know that all the ivories, both carved and uncarved, that we put in our auction have been thoroughly reviewed and studied by our experts, requesting all the necessary information to determine that these pieces have not been obtained illegally and that they meet all the necessary requirements of the Cites and Soivre legislation on animal protection. In the case of antiques, processed specimens acquired prior to the entry into force of the Regulation, i.e. before June 1, 1947, would be exempted from the prohibition indicated in the previous paragraphs. The competent authorities indicate that no CITES certificate is required in this case. All our lots of old ivories are accompanied by a Certificate of Guarantee of Origin prior to 1947. There are a number of exceptions to this prohibition, provided that it can be reliably demonstrated that the specimens have been acquired or introduced in Spain before January 1, 1986. At present, in Spain, ivory pieces cannot be sold without CITES documentation, except as indicated above.
