The piece is crowned by a thin lid, on which is arranged the image of a small monkey, with curled tail, bent limbs and upturned face, while holding a large peach fruit in his hands. The lid is attached to the handle by a long chain of links. It shows wear and patina produced by aging. Yuan Dynasty (1279 - 1368) or later.
