MARIO BELLINI (Milan, 1935) for CASSINA. 4 armchairs. Model "Break 401", 1970's. Steel, cream fabric and expanded foam. Measurements: 88 x 50 x 55 cm. Set of four armchairs designed by Mario Bellini and produced by Cassina in the 1970s. The cream-colored damask fabric completely covers the steel structure. The elegant design, welcoming and sober in its lines makes them versatile to suit all environments. Extremely comfortable, thanks to the expanded foam upholstery. Mario Bellini graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Milan in 1959, and began his career working on his own as an architect. He achieved early international success, both in the field of architecture and in urban planning and furniture design. In 1987 the Museum of Modern Art, which includes twenty-five of his works in its collection, dedicated a retrospective exhibition to him. Bellini has collaborated with major European and American design firms, including Artemide, Vitra and Flos. He has been awarded eight Compasso d'Oro and the Gold Medal for his work by the President of the Republic of Italy. His designs are currently part of prominent collections around the world.
