Coffee table with mosaic top BERTHOLD MÜLLER (1893-1979). Brass and mosaic. The top has an abstract composition and the brass has a beautiful patina. With Jese Mobel label. Measurements: 45 x 100 x 100 cm. Coffee table raised on four lentil bases that give way to four spherical section legs in brass. The top is distinguished by the meticulous mosaic that combines curved surfaces in gold, white and brownish tones. The waist of the table top repeats the use of brass as the defining material. Berthold Müller-Oerlinghausen was a German sculptor who specialized in mosaics. In the 1960s and 1970s, Müller worked as a freelance designer and produced a series of furniture designs that were characterized by simplicity, clean lines and functionality. Müller's work was widely recognized during his lifetime, and he received several awards for his designs, including the prestigious German Design Award. Today, his furniture designs are highly sought after by collectors and are part of the collections of many important museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Vitra Design Museum in Germany.
