[Autograph, Music] Niccolò Paganini (1782-1840), violin virtuoso, composer. L.A.S. in Italian, December 27, 1838, 1p in-4 (approximate dimensions: 25*18cm). Unpublished letter to Julie Mangin (1791-ap.1855), mother of the famous scientific popularizer. He talks about his health, which was poor on his return from London and his stay in Calais. He thanks her for the translation of a brochure by Harys (?) and is proud to own a translation by Mme Mangin. He saw his son, Amédée, who honors his parents. He will spend the winter in Marseille and go to London in the spring, when he hopes to see the progress of his daughter, Clara Mangin, on the piano. Paganini's secretary was Georges Harrys (or Harris), son of a Hanover rabbi. Julie Mangin was of German origin. The letter, weakened by the original folds (closed mail with address on the back), has been lined with Japanese paper.

Describes his illness and announces that he is bedridden and has been unable to go to his "studio for several days". - JANIN Jules (1804-1874) L.A.S. to "mon cher enfant", Paris, May 4, 1872. 2 ½ pages. In-8°. Announces that he has received a bill from Michel Chevalier informing him that "Caïcedo [José Maria Caidedo] would have great chances of being one of the members of the Institute". He indicates at the end of the letter that without Dr. Vilette's help, M. Huet was lost.
